Crew 626 – E1 gets another hearty meal, that they don’t have to cook. They’ll have a ChuckWagon breakfast before they leave Ponil Camp. Today, they’re headed for Pueblano Camp (one of my favorites). They’ll have to decide which route to hike first, either way it will be the longest hike so far. My guess [...]

I don’t want to confuse anybody, but we’re going to start the day count over again. From this point, I’m going to count days actually at Philmont. Makes it easier for me to report on what is likely to be happening. So, with that said, today is Philmont 2009 – Day 2.
I’m also going to [...]

I was on the phone with John Howe yesterday as they arrived at Pikes Peak. John said that there was still snow on the mountain. Shortly after our phone call, I received the picture below from Rob Sharkey. He wrote, “Blog the cog!”

Good morning!
After a hearty breakfast prepared by Annette McHugh, our Philmont contingent boarded the bus at 6:30 AM headed for the airport. I must say, they all looked quite spiffy in their uniforms! I just spoke with John Howe, they have cleared security at the airport and are waiting for their plane.
They will be landing [...]

I was up at 6:30 AM to get a shower and finish packing. We had breakfast and boarded the “Cadillac Jack” bus at 9:30 AM, saying good bye to our island mates and to Sea Base.
The ride up through the keys was pretty uneventful. The bus had a VCR, so the boys [...]
